Fynbos Drops are the creation of artist Daya Heller, symbolising cyclical nature and celebrating the incredible biodiversity of our Fynbos Kingdom, honouring Nature’s magnificent design. They were born near Cape Point Nature Reserve in 2010, the production house moved to the Garden Route in 2017, and they are now produced in the heart of the Klein Karoo.
For over a decade they have sold directly & online nationally and internationally, exhibited in fine art galleries and exhibitions, and supplied to select outlets around South Africa, establishing a reputation of high quality by overjoyed clients. Wherever they’ve been displayed the audience response is that of wonder and awe, magnetically drawn to their poetry and skill of craftsmanship.
Our ‘tears of earth’ are handmade, and slow made on a remote off-grid farm with drinking water direct from mountain waterfalls, powered by the sun. Flowers are gathered sustainably, hand collected, gifts from friends, trades, or bought from protea farms, always obsessively on the look out for new beautiful fynbos specimens. The more you look for these minute unnoticed plant life and their intelligent design the more you fall in love with them.
The spherical drop shape magnifies the detail of their beauty. Each is completely unique, even if it’s the same plant, making unique combinations of plant / colour / sizing in options of standing or hanging for sets, collections and installations to enhance unique interiors.
The original drop shapes and moulds are hand sculpted by the artist. Flowers are individually hand selected. They are cast in high quality transparent and uv resistant resin. The production line goes through an intensive sanding, polishing and quality control process. The plants are entirely sealed within and airtight therefore 100% preserved.
